China’s First Cast Hollow Turbine Blade
Institute of Metal Research
The Institute of Metal Research developed China’s first cast nine-hole hollow turbine blade in 1966 to meet the need of high-propulsion aircraft engines.
This laid the foundation for the development of high-temperature cast alloys in China, making China the second country in the world, after the US, to produce precision-cast air-cooled turbine blades.
This blade is the most widely used aviation turbine blade in China.
In addition, for more than 30 years, not one single accident has occurred due to blade failure.
