World's First High-frequency, Fine Detection of 3D Atmospheric Structure from Geostationary Orbit
Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics
In response to the urgent demand for high-resolution, high-precision atmospheric vertical detection for high-quality numerical weather prediction, scientists from the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics established a brand-new technological system for three-dimensional detection of the atmosphere from geostationary orbit.
They invented a hyperspectral payload technology with fully independent intellectual property rights .
This achievement was first applied in 2016 on the Fengyun-4A satellite and again in 2021 on the Fengyun-4B satellite, marking the world's first successful implementation of high-frequency, fine detection of the Earth's atmospheric 3D structure from geostationary orbit.
