Pioneers of China's Nuclear Industry
Chinese Academy of Sciences
In the early days of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Academy prioritized the development of atomic energy-related science and technology. In 1950, the Institute of Modern Physics was established, laying the theoretical and technological groundwork for the application of atomic energy.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences assumed the heavy burden of the development of China’s atomic energy technology serving the need of the country. CAS rapidly mobilized scientific and technological strength, and provided strong support to many aspects of the country’s atomic energy industry, including in the areas of talent, technology, facilities, and fuel.
