On Nov. 21 in Beijing, Deputy Director of the CAS Bureau of Planning and Strategy TIAN Ming and Deputy Director of the CAS Bureau of International Cooperation GE Mingyi met with Mr. Tsuyoshi Maruyama, director of Bureau of Science and Technology Policy under the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and his delegation.
During the talk, Prof. Tian briefed the Japanese visitors the CAS plan for its third phase of the Knowledge Innovation Program. Mr. Maruyama gave a briefing on the recent changes of Japanese S&T policies. He said that Japanese government attached importance to international cooperation with Asian countries including China. The two sides agreed to make efforts to promote collaboration in the field of S&T policy. They also had in-depth discussions on such issues as jointly holding a bilateral workshop on S&T policy and strategy and talent training.
Mr. Maruyama visited China at the invitation of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Prof. MU Rongping, director of the CAS Institute of Policy and Management, was also present at the meeting.
