Prof. Uli Schwarz, a diligent foster for Sino-German S&T cooperation, advised to establish the CAS-MPG young scientists groups in Shanghai and Kunming in the 1990s. He served as the director of the CAS Shanghai Institute for Advanced Studies since 2002.
