Project on water pollution management to kick off
A research proposal on institutional innovation of water environmental management and demonstration, which was presented by the CAS Institute of Policy and Management (IPM), passed the scrutiny of an expert panel under the auspices of national water authority recently in Beijing. It should be implemented as soon as possible, suggested the panel.
The study is a component of the national research program on the control and management of water body pollution, says Prof. WANG Yi, principal instigator of the project and research fellow of IPM.
Aiming at main problems concerning the management of China's water environment, according to Prof. Wang, the project will focus its attention on the institutional mechanism and related policies in the management. At the same time, issues of water pollution and drinking water safety in rural areas will be chosen as two key topics for the study and demonstration.
