Jointly organized by the International Society of Zoological Sciences (ISZS) and the CAS Institute of Zoology, and sponsored by the CAS Bureau of International Cooperation, the 2nd International Symposium of Integrative Zoology was held from 8 to 10 December in Beijing.
High-caliber officials and prestigious scholars, including chair of Union of Biological Sciences John Buckeridg, first scientist of the World Conservation Union Jeffrey A. McNeely, CAS Vice President LI Jiayang, were present at the opening ceremony of the meeting which was attended by about 150 scholars from more than 24 countries. CAS Vice President LI Jiayang, who served as honorary chair of the ISZS, delivered a talk at the opening ceremony of the symposium, calling for the harmonious co-existence among animals, human beings, and the environment.
A total of 10 plenary lectures were delivered at the meeting, which was made up of 8 sessions, including micro-biology, integrative approach and methodology, protected area action plan in the east Asia region, role of ISZS in linking zoological societies cross the world, animal ecology, biodiversity and conservation, evolution and biodiversity, and behavior and reproductivity.
