CAS scientists develop PV stations for Tibetan schools

Aug 26, 2007

Scientists and engineers from the CAS Institute of Electrical Engineering recently started a project to develop photovoltaic (PV) power stations for four schools in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Supported by the CAS Knowledge Innovation Program, the systems will be set up at four schools that currently have no electricity.  Through the project, the researchers are expected to upgrade the existing PV technologies, improve their power output and slash the costs. The systems will be finished by the end of this year, meeting the teaching and living needs of the schools.
