In 2006, CAS has earmarked 18 million yuan as seed money for outstanding Ph.D graduates newly recruited by the Academy to launch their research, discloses CAS Executive Vice President BAI Chunli at a CAS prize awarding ceremony. A total of 109 doctoral graduates have received the financial support this year.
To foster innovative personnel remains a crucial commitment for CAS, while the key issue is to retain talents in order to add catalysts for innovation. With this intention, CAS has designed a special fund since 2005 for backing up talented innovators to start their independent research careers.
A receiver of the support is required to win at least one of the prizes including National Doctorate Dissertation Prize, CAS Doctorate Dissertation Prize and CAS President Scholarship and propose a research program to embody S&T innovation. A single impartment amounts to a maximum of more than 400 thousand yuan.
