GUO Kexin (K. H. Kuo, 1923-2006), a physical metallurgist and crystallographer from the CAS Institute of Physics, died on Dec. 13 in Beijing.
Prof. Guo was graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University in 1946 and further studied in Sweden in 1947. He was engaged in the exploration of crystal structures, crystal defects and quasi-crystals, and conducted research with electron microscope on the structure of quasi-crystals and their related crystals.
In 1980, he was elected a CAS member, a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, and received an honorary doctoral degree from the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden.
