Scholars may apply for grants to spend academic leaves at IoP
Regulations on academic vacations for overseas scholars have recently been issued at the CAS Institute of Physics (IoP).
According to the regulation, IoP offers financial support to prestigious scholars with a tenured position in foreign countries and an active role in the international academic circle for spending their academic vacations at the institute. Each visiting professor shall work at the institute for at least four successive months each year and shall enjoy financial support by a special IoP outlay as well as by his research group and the laboratory. Meanwhile, the research results achieved during this period shall go to IoP-CAS as the only or the first contributor.
Also, the academic leave policies for senior researchers have already been tried out at the institute since 2001. The institute allows no more than 10 top professors for academic leaves with salary to corresponding overseas academic institutions. Now with the fast development of international communications and exchanges at IoP, more and more scholars are coming to China for long-time research work. Therefore, the establishment of regulations for academic vacation of overseas professors became a necessity.
