At the council meeting of the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) held in Bruno, Czech 17 May, the majority of the members voted in favor of the proposal from China and Singapore to jointly host the 12th ISRM International Congress in Beijing during 16-21 October 2011.
The CAS Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics was commissioned by the Chinese rock engineering community to bid for the Congress on behalf of the Chinese and Singapore National Groups. Prof. Feng Xiating, director of the CAS institute, made the proposal and showed a short video at the meeting, which were warmly accepted.
It'll be China's first time to host the Congress, which will be a catalyst to boost China's international cooperation and exchanges in the field.
