The Sixth International Symposium on Marine Sciences of the Yellow Sea opened on Oct. 9 in Qingdao. Some 130 Chinese and foreign marine scientists attended the conference, which is focusing on the environment and resources' variations of the Yellow and East China Seas and their relationship to global change.
The three-day meeting is jointly organized by the International Society of Yellow Sea Research, the CAS Institute of Oceanology (IOCAS) and Inha University of Korea with the assistance from IOCAS, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Qingdao Municipal Government, the First Institute of Oceanography of SOA and the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute of CAFS.
IOCAS Director Prof. Xiang Jianhai and Prof. Yong Ahn PARK from Seoul National University, Korea, were invited to deliver a keynote speech. About 60 scholars made oral presentations in two group sessions of marine biology & chemistry and physical oceanography & marine geology.
