As one of the five centers of excellence approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) this year, National Laboratory for Condensed Matter Physics has its preparation work being started in Beijing.
To be located in the CAS Institute of Physics, the research areas of the Laboratory will focus on superconductivity, magnetism & magnetic materials, surface physics, optical physics, extreme condition physics, electron microscopy, soft matter physics, condensed matter theory & materials computation, nano-physics & devices, and micro-fabrication & public technical service.
The Laboratory will be jointly sponsored by CAS and MOST. In line with the international practice, the Director will have the full charge of its operation under the guidance of its Council.
Right now the preparatory committee is making a global hunt for the lab director and the heads of its subordinate departments.
