Second forum on humanities of Chinese scientists kicks off

Following the first Forum on Humanities of Chinese Scientists held in late April, its second round opened on Nov. 25 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.


    Following the first Forum on Humanities of Chinese Scientists held in late April, its second round opened on Nov. 25 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

    This round of the Forum will continue for four days. The first day was started by two talks made by Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan and CAS President Lu Yongxiang, focusing on promoting an integrated social and economic progress in the light of a scientific mode of thought for development, and establishing a moderately well-off society by scientific and technological innovation, respectively.

    Other speakers in the following days included Li Zhaoxing, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ba Denian, former president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Luan Enjie, Director of China Space Agency, Niu Wenyuan, expert on sustainable development from the CAS Institute of Policy and Management, Wu Wenjun, mathematician of CAS Academy of Mathematics and System Sciences, and Wang Daheng, a prominent opticist.

    The Forum, which was jointly initiated by CAS President Lu Yongxiang and a famed theorist Zheng Bijian, is sponsored by the CAS Graduate School.
