Ground application system getting ready for launching of "Double Star"
Accompanied by Director of CAS Bureau of High-tech Development Gui Wenzhuang, Mr. Sun Laiyan, Secretary-general of the State Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, made an inspection tour to the ground application system at the CAS Center for Space Science and Applied Research (CSSAR) on Nov. 19.
Sun listened, with satisfaction, to a report on the preparation of the ground application system for Double Star project by General Director of the System Wu Ji, who is also Executive Vice Director of CSSAR. Sun also visited the ground receiving station located at Miyun in northeastern suburb of Beijing.
The Double Star Program, a China-European space initiative proposed by CAS, is the first space science exploration project supported by China’s civil space program during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period (2001-2005).
