On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the CAS Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conservation (GIEC), CAS President Lu Yongxiang made an inspection tour to the institute on Oct. 21.
Accompanied by GIEC Director Chen Yong, Lu visited the Demonstration Quarter for New Energy Sources in the Innovation Park, which was recently set up by GIEC, and the new research and pop-science buildings. He also held discussions with GIEC researchers on issues of the development of biomass, microscale energy systems, and energy strategies .
Lu spoke highly of the recent progress of GIEC in its campus construction, research contingent, organizational reform, and scientific research. He called on GIEC researchers to further their research work in light of social and economic needs of the nation, and to promote the technology transfer by integrating resources outside the institute and optimizing the structure of property rights. He also asked the institute to step up its efforts in international cooperation and exchanges in the field and paying special attention to the training work for professiionals from developing countries.
