To mark the 50th founding anniversary of the Peking Man Museum, a frontal of Peking Man, who lived about 500,000 years ago, went on display on Sept 21 for the first time since its discovery 37 years ago.
Together with an occipital and a tooth, the frontal was discovered in 1966 by a CAS research team headed by Dr. Pei Wenzhong. This is the only original specimen of the skullcap of Peking Man in China. It is invaluable in academic studies, says Prof. Zhu Min, director of the CAS Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology.
