A research team of Sino-Swedish scientific cooperation succeeds in revealing the phylogenetic origin of domestic dog. This was reported on the cover treatise of  the US journal of Science on its Nov. 22 issue

Two Chinese scientists from the Kunming Institute of Zoology under the CAS, Research Professor Zhang Yaping and Dr. Luo Jing, in collaboration with Peter Peter Savolainen from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden completed the research work. They collected 654 dogs from five continents around the world and made a penetrating comparative study on the DNA diversity of the dog's mitochondria. The work proves that all dogs of the world come from East Asia as they have the identical genes in spite of the variegated appearances they wear and then they were wide-spread to everywhere on the globe.
