A Joint Postdoctoral Position Available at CAS-MPG Partner Institute for Computational Biology and Harvard University

The Max Planck-CAS Paul Gerson Unna Research Group at CAS-MPG Partner Institute for Computational Biology (PICB) is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher. This is a joint position in collaboration with the Sabeti lab at Harvard University.

The successful applicant will work closely with Prof. WANG Sijia at PICB and Prof. Pardis Sabetiat Harvard to further develop the Composite of Multiple Signal (CMS) methods (Science 2010, 327: 883-6; Cell 2013, 152: 703-13), and apply the methods to detect signals of positive selection in human populations.

The candidate is expected to:

1) Have a Ph.D. degree in statistical/computational/population genetics or a related field.

2) Be a proficient programmer in languages appropriate for scientific computing (e.g. C, C++, Python).

3) Have experience in writing research articles in scientific journals in English, and have already published first author or corresponding author papers in SCI journals in the field of statistical/computational/population genetics, or a related discipline.

4) Work independently with team spirit; be responsible and willing to assist other team members and to help supervise students.

5) Have excellent communication skill in both Chinese and English.

6) Devote at least two years in the group.

It is highly preferable if the candidate:

1) Have previous experience with high-throughput sequencing data.

2) Have research experience in genetic admixture studies.

The candidates are expected to spend their research time at both PICB, Shanghai, China, and Harvard University, Cambridge, US. The successful applicant will receive competitive salaries and benefits in line with the assistant professor level at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with additional subsidy during his/her stay in the US.
