Jun 28, 2010

Two postdoctoral research positions in the area of metabolic engineering and strain improvement of industrial microbes are immediately available at Prof. Yin Li’s group (http://www.im.ac.cn/user/show.php?name=liyin_p) in Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Research in this group focuses on improving the robustness and fitness of microbes during the actual industrial bioprocesses by molecular physiology and systems biotechnology (Trends in Biotechnology, 2009, 27: 664-672; Metabolic Engineering, 2009, 11: 101-106; Journal of Proteome Research, 2010, DOI: 10.1021/pr9012078). As one of Shell’s six worldwide cooperative partners in the field of biofuels in 2008, this group also has active ongoing collaborations with several famous domestic and international companies.

An applicant is sought with a Ph.D. degree in microbiology, molecular biology, biological engineering, fermentation engineering, or a related discipline and prior experience with genetic or metabolic engineering. A solid foundation in the underlying science with relevant experimental experience, a strong publication track-record in relevant fields, and proficient English writing and communicating skills are required. The ability to work in a team and a strong responsibility will be highly appreciated.

Interested applicants are requested to send a cover letter, a curriculum vitae along with a list of publications, and the names and email addresses of two references to Prof. Yin Li (yli@im.ac.cn) before Sep. 30th, 2010. Review of applications will continue until the positions are filled.
