Aug 17, 2014

Light: Science & Applications (hereinafter referred as Light) was recognized by its first impact factor of 8.476, ranking No.4 among 82 journals in optics category released by the 2013 Journal Citation Report on July 29, 2014.

Launched on March 29, 2012, Light is co-published by Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CIOMP, CAS) and Nature Publishing Group (NPG). It is the first open access academic journal in physics published by NPG. With its launching issue published in 2012, Light was accepted by Thomson Reuters, Elsevier for inclusion in Scientific Citation Index (SCI), and Scopus in October 2013. In early July 2014, Light was also included by the biggest global open access journal directory. Up to date, Light has a total citation of more than 640 times at Web of Science, with an h-index of 15.

Light aims to be a top international optics journal, through forming an editorial board composed of world leading experts and promoting its global popularity by virtue of NPG’s abundant resources. It has published 97 papers from 80 institutions in 19 countries and regions, covering fundamental research as well as the important issues in engineering and applied sciences that are related to optics and photonics.

To better demonstrate Light's research achievements and enhance its impacts, CIOMP launched annual conference "Light Conference series" in 2013 to invite world's leading scientists in optics for deeper academic exchanges and collaborations.

NPG is an international publishing company that publishes high impact academic journals, magazines, online databases, and services in science and medicine.
