Prof. TIAN Jing Elected Vice President of ICA

Prof. TIAN Jing, director of the Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was elected as the Vice President of the International Commission on Acoustics (ICA) between 2013 and 2016 at the 21st International Congress on Acoustics (ICA2013) held in Montréal, Canada on June 2-7, 2013.

The honor was given to TIAN in recognition of his outstanding contributions to scientific knowledge in electro-acoustic and noise control. As the Vice President of ICA, he bears the responsibility to promote international development and collaboration in all fields of acoustics including research, development, education, and standardisation.

Graduated from the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. TIAN has researched electro-acoustic and noise control for more than 30 years. He has been the principal investigator for 40 research projects supported by various funding bodies including Ministry of Science and Technology of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other organizations. His research covers several areas of acoustics: active noise and vibration control, electronic anti-noise communication devices, audio characteristic signal control, acoustical MEMS, transmission and evaluation of traffic noise and applications of finite amplitude sound wave.

Prof. TIAN is currently the President of Chinese Society of Acoustics, Honorary Fellow of International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV), Executive Editor in Chief for Acta Acustica, Director member of Technical Committee of National Acoustical Standardization.
