Apr 30, 2016

The Kunpeng-1B sounding rocket is launched from Danzhou City in south China's Hainan Province, April 27, 2016. Kunpeng-1B was launched from Danzhou City at 2 a.m. by the National Space Science Center (NSSC). The rocket fulfilled its mission of taking measurements in the upper atmosphere that will help with research of rocket sounding, high-speed flight and space tourism, said the NSSC. In recent years, the development of China's space technology is "extraordinary, impressive", which is favorable to build, together with other countries, a better world for all men of this planet, said the director of Euro Space Center.

"All the people I met working in the Chinese space industry are obviously of very high quality, very high level," said director of Euro Space Center Jean-Marcel Thomas, who visited China six months ago.

"I'm sure, thanks to China, the next few years we will be able to develop new knowledge, new technology, which allows us to learn more about how our planet works, but also on the functioning of our universe," he told Xinhua during a recent interview.

Euro Space Center, located at Transinne in the Belgian province of Luxembourg, is an attractive and educational space center.

The center has the largest model of space shuttle that exists in Europe and welcomes every year many Belgian students and families or of other European countries, also some Asian or African countries.

According to the director, from 2013, there have been about 600 Chinese students who come to visit Euro Space Center, mainly for an internship of three to five days.

"We are very pleased to receive the young Chinese, because they are very interested in science, they are very interested in the space ...," said Thomas.

As for China's first Space Day, a newly annual celebration, Thomas found that "it is wonderful that there are days like this, China has chosen April 24 to highlight the space and sciences, which is an excellent opportunity that can push young people towards careers, to scientific and spatial studies."

In fact, Belgium and China have close cooperation in the field of space technology, said Thomas.

For example, the Centre Spatial de Liege has cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shandong University, etc, in the aeronautical research.

During the visit of Belgian king Philippe to China last June, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and the Belgian company Advanced Mechanical and Optical Systems (AMOS) signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

"It is favorable to know each other, to share knowledge, to share expertise, and it helps move the entire planet towards a better world," he said. (Xinhua)
