Stamp Issued to Celebrate Anniversary of China's Breakthrough Insulin Study

A new stamp was issued in Shanghai today to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the "Total synthesis of crystalline bovine insulin“. It was considered as a breakthrough of biological study in the world and caused great attention both home and abroad.

The ceremony was launched at the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences under Chinese Academy of Sciences today with the participation of elderly researchers and scientists who participated the study then.

China started the project at the end of 1958 and succeeded in September, 1965. The achievements was the top prize of the national science award and nominated Nobel Prize. (Shanghai Daily)
