Workers are assembling the last reflector panel for the single-aperture spherical telescope "FAST" in Pingtang County.

The 500-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope, or FAST has 4,450 triangular reflector panels. It is similar in design to the Arecibo Observatory, using a natural hollow to provide support for the telescope dish. We are bringing you special coverage of the completion of the assembly process.

For more, we are joined by our reporter Liu Yang in Ping Tang.

Q1: Tell us how the final completion process is going and what more do you know about the FAST?

Q2: How significant is this giant radio telescope in our world today, and can you give us a sense of what was involved in constructing such a gigantic device?
