The Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMHE, CAS) organized the 1^st and 2^nd International Conference on Mountain Environment and Development (ICMED) held in 2002 and 2012 in Chengdu, China. IMHE is now organizing the 3^rd ICMED to be alongside with the 33rd International Geographical Congress of IGU on August 21-25, 2016 in Beijing, China. This conference will provide an opportunity to enhance the academic exchanges on mountain environment and development, discuss the future of mountain research.
