Scientific Editor at Journal Office of Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics (GPB)

GPB, an international journal published by Elsevier, is currently seeking a Scientific Editor (position immediately available) to join its editorial team. GPB aims to publish high-quality findings from scientists around the globe in a fast pace. Featured areas and particular interests of GPB include large-scale data acquisition, analysis, and integration based on high-throughput sequencing technologies.

The Scientific Editor is expected to play key roles in all aspects of manuscript processing, including but not limited to the responsibilities listed below:

Responsibilities:

1. To efficiently communicate in English with the publisher and reviewers, editors, authors, and readers;

2. To interact with leading scientists in the related fields, solicit submissions, and coordinate organization of special issues;

3. To actively engage in editorial processes, including technical check, manuscript evaluation, and overseeing peer-review;

4. To perform pre-publication editing and proofreading for accepted manuscripts;

5. To promote the journal by attending conferences and other events and preparing marketing materials;

6. To assist in organizing seminars and symposiums.

Requirements:

1. Ph.D. degree in genomics (or other omics), bioinformatics, molecular genetics, or other closely related fields of life sciences. At least one first-authored (or corresponding authored) publication in an international (English) journal is required. At least two years of postdoctoral training or at least two years of working or study experience abroad are desirable.

2. Professional English writing, communication, and computer skills;

3. Broad scientific interests, ability to critically think, and dedication in scientific editing;

4. Strong sense of responsibility, collaboration, and independence, highly self-motivated, creative, and open-minded;

5. Serve the position for a continuous term of at least 3 years.

The journal office is affiliated with Beijing Institute of Genomics (BIG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and a competitive salary package will be offered according to the policy of BIG, CAS.
