Description & Details:
A postdoctoral research scientist position is open at the Core Facility of Genomics, PSC. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in molecular biology, NGS library construction and is able to communicate with bioinformaticians on data analyses. Scientific communication skills in English are required. Leadership and a desire to achieve excellence are also critical. Knowledge in Chinese/Mandarin is not required. 

The research scientist will be responsible for developing new NGS applications (for example, single cell sequencing) in plants to address specific biological questions. This requires the scientist to coordinate research projects with other collaborating groups/core facilities and communicate with bioinformaticians on NGS data analyses.

The Core Facility of Genomics at PSC was established in June, 2012. The facility is now equipped with two Illumina HiSeq 2500, one MiSeq sequencers and automation instruments from Caliper/Perkin Elmer, with a sequencing capacity of up to 2 TB of data per week. The facility serves scientists at the PSC and collaborates with scientists worldwide. We provide regular NGS applications services (such as mRNA-seq, sRNA-seq, ChIP-seq, BS-seq and gDNA-seq) and develop new techniques based on scientific needs.

Situated in the picturesque Chenshan Botanical Garden, the Shanghai Center for Plant Stress Biology is a new international institution for fostering world-class research and nurturing next-generation scientists in the field of plant biology. As a unit of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, PSC’s mission is to address fundamental issues of plant stress biology in order to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability and to mitigate agriculture-related environmental degradation.
