The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) held a collaborated press conference in Beijing and announced the opening of the 15th General Assembly of the Members of CAS and the 10th General Assembly of the Members of CAE on June. 6th.

The two General Assemblies are held jointly by the CAS and the CAE every two years. This year, the assemblies are held from June 7th to June 10th in Beijing.

The assemblies will examine the biennial work reports of the CAS and the CAE respectively, discuss the “Twelfth Five-year Plan” of academic divisions, issue certificates to new-elected academicians and foreign academicians and confer the Tan Kah Kee Science Award and China Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award.

Also, the CAE will hold general election and elect new president, deputy presidents and members of presidium for the academy during the CAE Assembly.

The CAS has six academic divisions and currently 709 academicians and 56 foreign academicians, among whom 559 of all home academicians and 11 foreign academicians will attend the biennial General Assembly.

There are nine academic divisions in the CAE. CAE has now 751 academicians and 36 foreign academicians, among whom 656 of all home academicians and 12 foreign academicians will attend the General Assembly.
