| CAS Science Expedition Ship Finishes Study Tour in South China Sea |

| "Science No.3" sailed back to Qingdao | "Science No. 3" an expedition ship of Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) finished its study tour in South China Sea and sailed back to Qingdao on September 22.
"Science No. 3" set sail from Qingdao on July 27 to carry out the scientific project "Dynamic mechanism of sediment winnowing and its effects on ocean engineering." It lasted 58 days with a voyage of 7735 sea miles.
Researchers deployed and collected fixed observation devices, sampled surface layer of the sea wall, and conducted offshore geophysical survey.
During the voyage, "Science No. 3" successfully survived the typhoon "GONI", and joined the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Hainan province for maritime search and rescue work for three consecutive days. |
