The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) signed a memorandum of cooperation with Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL), Korea in Beijing on March 27 to strengthen future cooperation on PAL-XFEL (X-ray Free Electron Laser) project.

According to the memorandum, the two sides agreed to boost cooperation on PAL-XFEL project by developing key components of the linac accelerator, facility installation, commissioning and further R&D.

The PAL-XFEL, a new project of PAL, aims to build an X-ray FEL machine based on the scheme of Self-Amplified Spontaneous Emission (SASE).

IHEP director WANG Yifang and Prof. KO In Soo, manager of PAL-XFEL project, signed the memorandum during Prof. KO In Soo's visit to IHEP.
