Prof. Isao Tanihata and Prof. Hiroshi Toki from Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP) at Osaka University in Japan visit the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP, CAS) from Feb. 3 to 6, 2010.
During their visit, the two professors present excellent lectures on effects of tensor forces in nuclei, charge, matter radii and structure of halo nuclei, origin of electromagnetic noise and the method of noise reduction for synchrotron accelerator. They also have discussions on the subjects of mutual interest with directors and scientific researchers of IMP.
Prof. Isao Tanihata found the Halo Nuclei in 1980’s, and has made significant contributions to the researches in the fields of nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, high energy heavy ion collision, radioactive beam facilities, and detector technology. Prof. Hiroshi Toki, who was the director of RCNP at Osaka University, is an expert in nuclear theoretical researches.
The visit of the two Japanese scientists will push forward the cooperation between RCNP and IMP.
